ProvenanceThe cup and saucer were brought to Australia by the Steingraber family in 1951. The Steingrabers left their home in Austria prior to the outbreak of World War II and migrated to China, where they lived in Shanghai throughout the 1940s. They then migrated to Australia in 1951. This cup and saucer is part of a large collection donated by Anna Shepherd, Mrs Steingraber's daughter.SignificanceThis cup and saucer is representative of migrant's belongings brougth to Australia.DescriptionWhite porcelain decorated with gold festoons. Cup has gold handle, and a circle of gold decoration around inside. Identifying mark on base of both cup and saucer is of the Schlaggenwald porcelain factory in Bohemia.
