ProvenanceThis tea pot belonged to the donor's late wife, who migrated to Australia c.1970. She brought it to Australia with her in 1970 from Akita, her hometown in Japan. She would often perform tea ceremonies in Australia after her migration.SignificanceKyusu tea pots are made to pour green tea. They are designed to ensure that every drop of tea can be poured from the tea pot. There are several variations, and this tea pot is a Yokode Kyusu teapot, which differs from other tea pots because of the handle on the left hand side.
