This is thought to be Frederick Ramsay McColl (1912-1942), Sergeant in the RAAF, Service Number: 407559. Sergeant McColl was shot down during an attack by the Japanese Invasion Fleet near Bangka Island off the east coast of Sumatra. At the time of his death he was wireless air-gunner of a Hudson bomber crew. Frederick grew up in Semaphore. He was cashier at A. & E.
