A cropped version of this photograph (reversed, this is a scan of the glass negative) appeared in the Register News, 'Entrants in Popular Girl Contest', 21 December 1929, p. 21. It had the credit line 'No. 315, Bond, Port Adelaide, Portrait' and caption 'Miss Gwendoline Langaard, Pinnaroo Hotel, Pinnaroo.' The Most Popular Girl Contest was run by the Register newspaper, and voted on by readers. Entrants were able to have their photograph taken for free at a number of locations, including the studio of AE Bond in Port Adelaide.
