ProvenanceCollection of Kevin How. Humourous booklet which details a Race Meeting held on the MV ‘Manoora’, a vessel owned by the Adelaide Steamship Company. The booklet is ‘taking off’ a racing card of a meeting with four races – 1. Manoora Marathon and 4. Steamship Scamper.
Deckside 'horse races' were a popular entertainment where passengers competed against each other to wind in wooden horses attached to lines of string. The ‘Manoora’, like many of the company's coastal liners, offered a variety of shipboard entertainments including deck tennis, horse races, shuffleboard, and dances.SignificanceCollected by Kevin How - his service viewed through memorabilia. The booklet is a programme of meeting held on the Ozone Racecourse tide permitting. Humorous booklet (postcard size) 'taking off' a racing card of a meeting with 4 races - 1. Manoora Marathon & 4. Steamship Scamper. Each race has 4 horses, each with a funny name. On the inside back cover are the 'Manoora' Racing Club Conditions & Totalisator Rules such as 4 "The finishing post shall be as close as possible to the bar".
