ProvenanceBox of cedar wood made by prisoners for the 1856/7 elections in South Australia. Wooden ballot boxes were used in SA until 1985, when they were replaced by cardboard. This box was kept by the Office until it was donated to the History Trust.Significance DescriptionWood ballot box with hinged opening on top. There is a white paper sticker located under the hinged top, near the slot where votes are placed into the box.
