ProvenanceThis full set of six badges was produced and donated by the Remembering Dunstan ProjectSignificance2015 marked the 40th anniversary of homosexual law reform in South Australia. In 1975, under Don Dunstan's Premiership, SA became the first State in Australia to decriminalise homosexual acts between consenting adults. Prior to this homosexual acts between consenting adults were illegal. In 2015 Barbara Baird and Rosslyn Prosser succefully secured funding from the Department of Communities and Social Inclusion for the Remembering Dunstan Project. The project focused on public education and as such produced badges and postcards, a public lecture, media releases, a Facebook presence, and facilitated a contingent - The Marching Dunstans - that marched in the 2015 Adelaide Pride parade. All participants were required to wear either a safari suit or pink shorts and a white t-shirt, both of which have come to symbolise Don Dunstan.DescriptionA pink badge imprinted with the words: Don Dustan, Premier of South Australia 1967-68 and 1970-79 Inspiring Political LeadershipDate of CreationBetween 1st January 2015 and 31st December 2015Date of Usage14/11/2015Materialplastic
