Provenance
Donated by Krystyna Luzny. After the Second World War Krystyna and her fiancé Tomasz lived in Germany as refugees. They migrated to Australia in 1950 where both were active in the Adelaide Polish community. Krystyna donated a number of documents from their time as refugees to the Migration Museum.
Significance
An example of the type of documentation issued to refugees in Displaced Person (DP) camps following the Second World War. After surviving war in Europe refugees’ journeys often began with the trials of bureaucracy which qualified them to emigrate and enabled them a chance at a new life.
Description
Buff coloured vaccination certificate issued to Krystyna Leydo (later Mrs Luzny), issued by US Army to certify that K Leydo had received typhoid and tetanus injections.
