Framed Print - Don Dunstan

ProvenanceThis limited edition print was purchased by the donor, Greg Mackie, in 2012.SignificanceThis photograph of Don Dunstan (Premier of South Australia, 1970-1979) was taken by photographer Bryan Charlton. It captures Don Dunstan returning from a swim after he had performed his official duties opening a new motel complex at Kingscote on Kangaroo Island in 1968. In 2012 Bryan Charlton had a photographic exhibition in which this print featured. As an artistic touch Bryan coloured Don Dunstan's swimmers pink in reference to the pink shorts that Dunstan famously wore in parliament (much to the outrage of many) and which are now in the State History Collection.DescriptionA framed limited edition photographic print. The frame is wooden and painted grey and has hanging wire attached at the back. The print is black and white and features Don Dunstan wearing swimmers that have been colourised pink. Don Dunstan is walking on the grass and there is a low wall and a child's bicycle in the background. The board surrounding the print is embossed with a stamp that features a logo and the words Bryan Carlton, Photography.
