LGBTIQ+ lives are built around objects: the things with which we adorn our homes and bodies, the things we make, use and consume, and the technologies with which we communicate with one another. It is rare, however, that LGBTIQ+ objects are found in museums. One consequence of this is that LGBTIQ+ lives, issues, and histories are underrepresented in museum collections and displays. The History Trust of South Australia is working hard to address this by actively collecting, preserving, researching, and sharing LGBTIQ+ objects, histories, and stories. We are committed to ensuring that our museums are inclusive and rainbow-hued.
