DecriptionI took this photo on my lunch break on the second day of the July Adelaide lockdown. Being an essential worker, I had the fastest drive to work that morning but I had forgotten to prepare lunch, so I rushed out masked up in hope that a shop might be open where I could grab something. While waiting for the queue outside this bakery, I was struck by how hastily the sign had been prepared - they scribbled the note out and stuck it up. It is somewhat representative of the constantly-changing nature of the pandemic - it has become the "new normal" to have rules change daily or even hourly. Things are happening so fast that people can barely keep up. And this bakery probably got the news about changing restrictions, quickly made a decision, and made the sign within a few minutes. It also is representative of how small businesses like bakeries have had to manage a confusing array of restrictions and rules to ensure they can stay open - but they were necessary (as I found) for supporting people who needed to work in essential roles. It's a reminder how easily our lives can go topsy-turvy within the space of an hour. CreatorTom BowdenLocationnot specifiedCatalogue NumberML24360
